Listed below and links to professional organizations that work to help adopted
people, adoptive parents, and birth parents considering reunion or dealing with
reunion related issues.
Most of the search and support organizations will be able to refer you to organizations in your geographical area if they are not listed. Please note that phone numbers and addresses may change. If they have, call another number until you get someone who can help. Don't take it as a personal rejection if they don't call or email you back (!) Most of these organizations are run by overworked volunteers. Be persistent. Also, shop around, particularly as far as the counselors are concerned. What works for one person may not work for another. If you don't gel with an individual counselor, find another one you do gel with. While I obviously can't guarantee anything, this is a good place to start.
There are hundreds of fine adoption-related resources in addition to the representative sample listed here, including local and statewide support and advisory groups around the country. The easiest way to find them is through the Internet. Virtually every adoption agency, attorney, and facilitator also has a site.
